Oxon Woodturners

News

** As of 2025 our clubnights will take place on the First Tuesday of each month **

Our next clubnight will be the 4th of February, and will be a hands-on night with the theme of honey dippers. This will be an excellent opportunity for beginners to have a go at spindle turning under the guidance of experienced club members. The competition theme for this month is 'Off-centre turning'. We hope to see you there!

Our introductory guide to Woodturning is now out! See the FAQs tab.

We are delighted to announce that Chris Hallsworth has taken over as club chairman, after being elected at our AGM. We thank outgoing chairman Dan Finnemore for his service, and we are pleased that he will remain on the committee.

About Us

Welcome to the web page of the Oxon Woodturners which is associated to the Association of Woodturners of Great Britain (AWGB).

We established over 30 years ago (in 1991) as a focus for woodturners in and around Oxfordshire with a wide range of experience and ages. Our meetings (as of 2025, the first Tuesday of every month at 7.30pm; doors open at 7:00) - see map on contact page - are informal and consist usually of demonstrations or club hands-on evenings. There is always something for both beginners and established turners; new members are always welcome.

We are delighted that the well-known turner Gary Rance is the Patron of our club. Gary is considered one of the fastest and most accurate production woodturners in the UK and is one of only a few whose income comes solely from woodturning. Gary has been a popular demonstrator at the club, combining infectious enthusiasm with pre-eminent skill, and we look forward to a long and happy collaboration with him.

Please contact one of our committee members for more information on the club. Our constitution is available here.
